Intermediate Level learner can communicate well on routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar topics. They have insufficient vocabulary to develop and hold conversation on less familiar topics. The learner Links basic sentences but with repetitious use of simple connectives and some breakdowns in coherence and rarely attempts to paraphrase. Subordinate structures are rare and often produced inaccurately. They understand language on a range of subjects when spoken to directly and clearly. They can find specific, predictable information in authentic material, such as advertisements, brochures and guidebooks. Learners can write short, simple notes and messages conveying general meaning using limited vocabulary and a range of structures.
